Crossing at Battlefield Rest

Battlefield Rest used to be a tram terminus before becoming a much-loved Italian restaurant and that’s the silhouette of the old Victoria infirmary in the background . The client who bought it immediately spotted that the figure is wearing a nurse’s uniform , which , weirdly , I wasn’t aware of even though I spent quite a long time painting it. I took dozens of photos of the scene several years ago and obviously snapped a nurse coming off shift . I might be a visual artist but I’m not as observant as I’d like to be I’m afraid .
