St Monans

The church in the lovely East Neuk of Fife village of St Monans has probably one of the finest views of any in Scotland . It sits next to the shore , virtually hovering over the beach . In particularly stormy weather , I dare say the congregation have more reason than most to pray . This watercolour depicts it at Dusk . For those who care about technique and materials , for this painting I changed from my usual Bockingford paper to a heavier Arches one . This was partly do do with wanting to experiment with a more dense , wash method and partly to take me slightly out of my comfort zone by using different material .
